Brandt Brauer Frick
Music has always been the defining core of Tartelet Records. This may seem like an obvious statement, but that was the very reason why it hit us like a ton of bricks when Fredski received the first demo from Paul Frick and his new band around two years ago; “you might say that the Brandt Brauer Frick sound touched on a vibration that had been lurking in our musical subconscious”. This new, German sound showed a visionary way forward that mixed modern classical with Detroit techno and tipped its hat to Carl Craig, Stockhausen and John Cage, while finding its own magnificently idiosyncratic voice. It also supplied the electronic music scene with experimental improvisation and musical serendipity, elements, which were, in our opinion, lacking within contemporary production.
Two years later, and we’ve released three Brandt Brauer Frick records since we first got hold of their demo. The first one was ‘Iron Man’, the second contained the tracks ‘Paino Shakur’ and the mighty ‘Bop’ and third was ‘Corky’. Notables like Losoul, Treplec and Lee Jones have remixed the band while the music has gone on to reach an impressively diverse audience, ranging from gigs at club institutions Berghain and Watergate, to a concert at the National Library of Norway.
Brandt Brauer Frick recently released their debut album ´You make me real´ on k7! Records and It seems the three guys are headed for big things in the future.
